This Week’s Curators: Kwang Uh & Mina Park of Baroo

Baroo is one of the most original restaurants in Los Angeles. Husband-and-wife chefs Kwang Uh and Mina Park reopened it in the Arts District in 2023 as a relaxed, modern Korean tasting menu, and it quickly became one of the city’s most talked-about tables. It was named the LA Times Restaurant of the Year in 2024, and in 2026 Kwang was a James Beard finalist for Best Chef: California.

Kwang was born and raised in Seoul. He trained at the Culinary Institute of America and earned a master’s from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra, Italy, where he wrote his thesis on Korean fermentation. He cooked at Daniel and Picholine in New York and Mingles in Seoul, and staged at Noma, Quique Dacosta and Piazza Duomo, before opening the original Baroo in 2015. Mina is Korean American and practiced law before starting her culinary pop-up, Sook, in Hong Kong in 2013.

The two met at the temple of the Venerable Jeong Kwan, the Buddhist nun and celebrated temple-food chef. Korean Buddhist principles of compassion and interconnectedness still shape how they cook and run their restaurant.

Order by Thursday 9 PM or until sold out for next Friday’s delivery (LA only).

As we continue to build our farm network, we strive to collaborate with farms prioritizing growing practices focused on rehabilitation, conservation of native species, and transparency — Regenerative, Biodynamic, and beyond Organic principles that improve soil and water health and promote biodiversity. Each Farm Box purchase directly supports this network of farmers, earth-tenders, and producers. Flamingo Estate horticulturist Jeff Hutchison and Catherine Welch, of Windrose Farm, have teamed up to source the best ingredients from a diverse group of small, family-run farms to help nurture a network of thoughtful growers who help heal the planet with every harvest.

    Thank you Flamingo Estate!!

We love our Flamingo Estate Farm Box! The kids get so excited to open it every week and see what's inside. It's been a fun way to introduce them to new vegetables and get us all trying things we might not normally buy. The price point is great for what you get, and we genuinely look forward to discovering new ingredients and getting creative in the kitchen each week!

    Highly recommend

To start everything about this box is exceptional- the box itself, the paper wrapping and the way the fruit and vegetables are arranged. That’s all just icing on the cake because the fruit and vegetables and all the added bonuses (from cookbooks, olive oil, candles, soap, etc.,) are stellar. I’m constantly discovering new vegetables or ones that I have overlooked and incorporating them in my diet. FE has changed the way I cook and eat all for the better. I highly recommend.
