Vintage “Tropical Nights” Plates by Nanette Vacher

Four sculptural hibiscus plates, each formed as a full bloom with softly ruffled, slightly cupped petals. A raised line of stamens runs through the center of each flower, hand-painted from deep coral at the throat to warm gold at the tips, with subtle variations from plate to plate.
Designed by Nanette Vacher, the “Tropical Nights” pattern treats the flower itself as the form, rather than simply as decoration. The result is part tableware, part botanical object, with each plate reading almost like a study of a single hibiscus in bloom.
We used these plated for our collaboration with farmers and makers in Hawaii.
