What sets this piece apart is the rim: rather than the standard scalloped or plain edge Booths used for most of the pattern's run, this one has a hand-pierced, double-walled reticulated border, an old, labor-intensive decorative technique borrowed from 18th- and 19th-century English porcelain, giving the plate a lace-like, dimensional edge well beyond a typical dinner plate.
