Pair of Meissen Gardener’s Children, after Johann Joachim Kaendler
A pair of Meissen porcelain figures after models by Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706–1775), one of the manufactory’s most celebrated sculptors. The pair comprises Gardener’s Child With a Tambourine, depicting a dancing girl, and Gardener’s Child With a Flower Basket, depicting a standing boy.
Both are finely modeled and hand-painted, with impressed and painted Meissen marks. The figures date to the period in which these marks were used, between 1815 and 1924. Sourced at auction for Flamingo Estate’s 2026 Mother’s Day shoot, as part of a collection of important porcelain objects.
