A two-piece serving set with sculptural handles that twist and coil like Medusa’s hair, cast in nickelplate and finished with Michael Aram’s characteristic hand-worked surface.
The Medusa set was originally drawn from Aram’s archive and reissued in 2014 as part of his 25th Anniversary Commemorative Collection, a retrospective of favorite designs from his first 25 years of work. Aram’s approach to metalwork began after a formative trip to India in 1989, where he became fascinated by the country’s long standing traditions of hand craftsmanship and established a workshop in New Delhi.
Sculptural enough to stand on its own and practical enough for the table, each piece carries the subtle variations of the handmade process. This set was purchased for the Flamingo Estate Object Library and used in our photoshoots.
