The backrest and seat are carved in the form of radiating seashells, while the sinuous armrests terminate in sculptural seahorses. Even the legs are treated as marine forms, giving the entire chair the feeling of something pulled from an elaborate underwater world.
The deep walnut has developed a rich, warm patina that accentuates the remarkably detailed carving. A theatrical and highly sculptural piece of late 19th-century Venetian furniture.Chair seat has a crack in center, but easy to repair.
